New head elected for the American Gambling Association
At the last annual meeting of the gambling industry's representatives body, the CEO of Bally Technologies, Richard Haddrill, has been elected head of the American Gambling Association (AGA).
The election has been made just in time with the gambling issue still on the table and regarded by various legislatures.
Haddrill and the vice-president James Murrell are believed to be a helping hand for the gambling industry to take advantage of the opportunities to come in the next two years.
The AGA stands for the commercial casinos over the federal legislative and regulatory context and provides information and advocacy programs, in order to protect the interests of the gambling operators.
Many US states are trying to legalize online gambling, now that the opinion on the Wire Act from 1961 has changed.
Initially, it was thought that the Wire Act forbad all gambling activities, but recently the DoJ found that it had only applied to sports betting.
The latest state to introduce legal online gambling is Connecticut, which is expected to catch up with Nevada, California and Iowa.
